Leaf & Fin Aquaponics
Leaf & Fin Aquaponics got its start in 2013 when founder David Hedden was volunteering with the Growing Experience Urban Farm in North Long Beach. What started as a small scale prototype to test the capabilities and efficiency of aquaponic systems has since developed into a grant funded project to fully retrofit a 1,000 sq.ft. greenhouse and implement a cutting-edge vertical farm system that can produce 10,000 lbs of plants and 500 lbs of fish annually. Most recently, David designed, installed and continues to facilitate ongoing programming and maintenance at the Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library Learning Garden which features 12 large raised beds of vegetables utilizing organic practices and water conservation methods. David continues to engage in projects around Long Beach, and the greater Southern California region, by providing urban agriculture consulting and educational outreach.
